Query: "signs we might be losing an enterprise deal."
Not one file in the folder contains that exact phrase. A pure keyword search — the kind most local search tools do — returns nothing.
MultiVault's optional semantic-search layer ranks a meeting note near the top anyway: "...Northwind is wobbling on renewal, their new VP wants a competitor bake-off before Q3..." No shared words with the query at all — "wobbling" and "losing a deal" aren't the same string, they're the same idea, and that's exactly the gap semantic ranking exists to close. The BM25 layer alone would have missed this file entirely.
Everything happens on-device. No account, no cloud index, nothing about your files or your query ever leaves the machine.
